Yes — eating vegan around Lake Bled is easy in 2026, and this guide gives you the whole picture. The heart of it is Tavči Kuhna, with the Ayatana deli inside our entrance — a 100% vegan restaurant on Alpska cesta 43c in Lesce, 4 km (about a 7-minute drive) from the lake, running a fully plant-based menu from 11:00 to 20:00 every open day — closed Tuesdays, kitchen closing at 19:30. We make about 70% of the menu in-house: sauces, falafels, bean patties, gluten-free buns, lunches, stews, desserts and drinks. Guests rate us 4.9★ across 1,026 Google reviews. Below you’ll find everything with real prices — the 7.50 € Tavček kids plate, the 5.00 € soup, a 6.30 € cake slice, all straight from the 21 July 2026 menu — and no brochure talk.
Where does a vegan actually eat around Lake Bled?
Around Lake Bled, eating vegan comes down to exactly two fully vegan kitchens, both worth your lunch: ours in Lesce — Tavči Kuhna at 4 km, roughly a 7-minute drive — and Public Bar & Vegan Kitchen in Bled centre. Everything else on the promenade is a menu with one token plant dish.
- Tavči Kuhna (Alpska cesta 43c, 4248 Lesce) — us. Full comfort-food menu, morning to evening, free parking in front, dogs welcome on the terrace, kids corner.
- Public Bar & Vegan Kitchen (Ljubljanska cesta 4, Bled centre) — bar-style vegan kitchen in the middle of the tourist action, open Tue–Sun in the afternoon (12:00–16:00). Good for a burger with a pint while you’re already in town.
That’s the honest map. Plenty of travel sites still claim “the only fully vegan spot near Bled” — those articles get old fast, and simply forget us because we’re a 4 km hop away in Lesce. That’s exactly why we wrote this guide. We’re listed on HappyCow with verified vegan-friendly status, and Bled Tourism and the local paper Gorenjski glas have both featured us.
Who is behind Tavči Kuhna?
No investor, no franchise. Tattoo artists Sašo and Simona opened a vegan café next to their tattoo studio in 2019 — coffee and cakes soon weren’t enough, so the café grew into a kitchen. In 2023 they went back to their art, and we (Peter and Vita) took over — the same concept, the same vegan rule.
In spring 2024 we moved from a tight Bled spot to a bigger space in Lesce, where the table space finally matches the food. If you notice a tattoo while your burger gets served, that’s the house style.

Is there a vegan version of the famous Bled cream cake?
Yes — a slice of cake at 6.30 € currently includes our Bled Cream Cake, the plant-based take on Slovenia’s legendary kremšnita. The category changes with the day: cakes are baked twice a week — Tuesday’s bake stocks the counter through Friday, Friday’s bake through Monday — with 6–8 rotating varieties, from chocolate-peanut and lemon-poppy to carrot with walnuts and seasonal fruit. Want a whole cake for a birthday or a picnic? See how ordering works — and ring +386 69 926 772 in advance.
What does a full vegan meal cost here?
No hidden math: the daily set lunch is 10.00 € — or 9.00 € with the Tavči Malce card (Monday to Friday); soup is 5.00 €; and a burger lands between 13.50 and 15.50 € with the side already included — that’s the point of the free fries-or-salad. Dessert is 6.30 € a slice, coffee starts at 1.70 €. Regulars ask for the Tavči Malce card, which takes the weekday set lunch down to 9.00 €.
In short: an ordinary lunch at an ordinary price — not a “special vegan surcharge”.
Opening hours — and the Tuesday trap
Monday to Sunday 11:00–20:00; closed Tuesdays. The kitchen closes at 19:30. That’s not a slogan — we close the kitchen when we close the restaurant, so nobody eats leftovers from yesterday. In practice that means the last warm plate goes on order before 19:30, and Wolt switches off with the kitchen. Plenty of day-trippers discover Bled on a Tuesday, so plan around it: us on any other day, and on Tuesdays Bled centre’s vegan kitchen keeps shorter afternoon hours — check its current listing before you rely on it.
The small stuff that actually decides visits
The small stuff decides more visits than anyone admits. Everything on the list below is included at no extra charge — which is why weekend cyclists stop here between Radovljica and Bled instead of pushing on to promenade prices:
- Free parking directly in front of the door
- Step-free entrance and accessible toilet
- Dogs allowed on the terrace (with water bowls) · kids corner
- Self-service water and homemade sauces on the table, free refills
- Free WiFi
- Delivery via Wolt in the Bled–Lesce zone (the rainy-day rescue)
Is it suitable for gluten-free eaters and allergies?
Everything on the menu is plant-based, so the usual meat-and-dairy anxiety disappears by default. We label dishes GF — “gut friendly”, made without gluten grains — and note that all food may contain traces; several burger buns and bowls come in GF versions. One rule from our menu matters for sensitive guests: tell the staff about allergies before ordering, so the kitchen can react properly.
Why 100% vegan — does one lunch even matter?
When you eat with us, your meal uses up to 90% less water, raw materials, CO₂ and land than the omnivorous version. No guilt, just numbers on one plate. That’s the whole house philosophy: local connection, homemade food, good feeling.
